How does it work?

When considering having a paternity test, please note that German law requires consent of all individuals being tested.

To conduct a paternity test we need DNA samples of all those who are involved, i. e. the mother, the child and the alleged father.

Your samples can be taken by a physician in our laboratory. At that appointment a mouth swab will be rubbed gently and painlessly on the inside of your mouth to collect a sample of cheek cells. In the majority of cases a blood sample will not be necessary, since the type of biological sample does not affect the result of the analysis.

You can also make an appointment at your favourite physician or local health authority. Your samples will then be sent to LGC by mail.
